Gracilis and Goldstripe

Gracilis and Goldstripe bamboo from bamboo creations victoria

Choosing the right bamboo for the right area can sometimes be difficult. There are different types for different situations. Clumping can be great for blocking out unwanted views or buildings. You have some that look great in a pot used in small courtyards as ornaments. Some, however do not suit pots and some of the larger bamboo do not suit smaller gardens. We have over 15 years’ experience in growing bamboo in Victoria that will suit Victorian conditions. We also know what works well in other conditions. We are only a phone call away to help you choose the best bamboo for your requirements.

An example of a great bamboo is Gracilis. This is one of our most popular bamboo due to its use as a wind break or screen. This can block out a neighbouring building very quickly. It is a clumping bamboo meaning that it will all the culms will clump together to form a dense green screen. It will reach approximately 6-8m in height meaning that you can block out any unwanted views. If it does take over a little, it can have a good trim to make the perfect shape and height to suit your requirements.

This does not suit all situations. It does not like small rectangular pots. It can grow quite high very quickly so if you do not need the height then we may be able to suggest a different type of Bamboo.  It responds quite well to a good trim a couple of times a year. If you are looking at a low maintenance bamboo that does not grow as high then give us a call and we can help you out.

An example of a smaller bamboo is one called Gold Stripe.  This grows to a maximum height of about 3 metres which would be great for smaller gardens. This can even be planted in pots to be used as an ornamental plant.

It is important to use the right bamboo in the right situation. It is also important to make sure the bamboo is suited for your conditions and requirements. We propagate and grow bamboo in Victoria so we know what works and what does not. We are more than happy to help you out with your Bamboo decisions. Our website has a lot of information about the different bamboo plants. Have a look at our summary page: www.bamboo-plants.com.au/bamboo-plant-specifications.php
